Learning Resources:
1. Choose either of the following categories from the Story Archives (Adventure, Disasters, Environment or Science and Technology).
2. Choose one of the CNN stories and read the story carefully. After you have read the story answer the questions on the left side of the web page.
3. Make sure you answer each of the questions in order: Vocabulary, Word Selection, Multiple Choice, Sequencing, and Conclusions. Record your scores for each section on a piece of paper.
4. Write the Your Choice questions on the same paper and answer each of the questions.
5. Turn in when you have completed all the questions for the story you chose. Make sure you put your first and last name on the top right hand corner.
6. If you finish, choose another category and repeat the process.

Fold a paper in thirds. On the top right hand corner of the paper write your first name, last name, and date. On the top left side of your paper write the Title of your article from Scholastic News.
Label each of the three sections as follows: Prediction, Main Idea and Supporting Details. Read the title of your article, any bolded words, and any captions under pictures. Study the picture and reread the caption.
Make a prediction about what you are going to read and write your prediction on the Prediction Section of your paper. Read the entire article twice. Determine the main idea of the article and write this under the Main Idea Section of your paper. Determine which details support the main idea and write all the supporting details under the Supporting Details Section of your paper. On the bottom of your paper write a sentence summarizing the article.

2. Choose one of the CNN stories and read the story carefully. After you have read the story answer the questions on the left side of the web page.
3. Make sure you answer each of the questions in order: Vocabulary, Word Selection, Multiple Choice, Sequencing, and Conclusions. Record your scores for each section on a piece of paper.
4. Write the Your Choice questions on the same paper and answer each of the questions.
5. Turn in when you have completed all the questions for the story you chose. Make sure you put your first and last name on the top right hand corner.
